What makes you happy? Learn about the nothing happier series in the first post. It explains what happiness is all about to me and my quest to find happiness in my life.
In honor of Mother’s Day, this weeks Nothing Happier series is a special Mother’s Day edition. Here is this week’s list of things that make me happy:
My Mom
Nothing makes me happier than my mom.
My mom is my hero. She is beautiful. She is caring. She is strong. She is a fighter. She is hard working. She is loving. She is patient. She is understanding. She is fun. She is helpful. She is smart. She is amazing.
My mom makes me happy. I know that God loves us because he gave us moms.
Licorice
Nothing makes me happier than licorice.
When I think of licorice, I think of my mom. She always had licorice around when we were growing up.
I love all types of licorice, but I particularly like the Red Vines. I also like Twizzlers and Good ‘N Plenty. My 18-month-old daughter loves licorice. It makes a mess when she eats it, but I don’t mind cleaning up her messy face because I think it’s kind of cute.
Hard Work
Nothing makes me happier than hard work.
Happiness and hard work may not naturally be placed in the same sentence. When I was growing up, my mom taught us to work hard. We had daily chores. We helped cook meals. We were responsible for our laundry. We had to help in the yard. I hated helping in the yard. I didn’t feel happiness when I helped in the yard.
When I think about the results of hard work, I feel happiness. You may not feel “happy” when you are in the middle of something difficult (like working in the yard), but some of the greatest happiness you can experience is the happiness and satisfaction that comes after working hard on something. Whether that means working around the house, working on a new talent, or working on relationships – hard work brings happiness.
The picture above is my grandma. My grandma was an incredibly hard worker throughout her life. When I think of hard work, I think of my grandma. I think of my mom. I think of moms.
What happy things remind you of your mom? What is making you happy this week?
