What makes you happy? I have a goal to find, recognize, and remember the little things that make life happy. Read more about the nothing happier series.
Here is this week’s list of things that make me happy:
Caramel Apples
Nothing makes me happier than caramel apples.
It’s no secret that I love treats.
A few weeks ago, I gave some caramel apples as teacher appreciation gifts for my kids teachers. I ended up with an extra caramel apple and had the pleasure of enjoying it myself. Ever since then, I’ve had a little problem/obsession with caramel apples. I love the combination of sour and sweet. I like to convince myself that this treat is somewhat healthy so I don’t have to feel guilty when enjoying it.
Camp Fires
Nothing makes me happier than camp fires.
There is something magical about a camp fire. Fires fascinate me. I can watch a fire for hours. Fires may be more interesting than people watching at Walmart.
Camp fires make me happy because they remind me of family. Last week I talked about why roasted marshmallows make me happy. Camp fires make me happy for the same reasons and also because they allow me to cook the perfect roasted marshmallow.
Memorial weekend is the official kick-off to summer, so bring on the camp fires!
Brothers & Sisters
Nothing makes me happier than brothers and sisters.
I am so grateful that I had brothers and sisters to grow up with. We rallied together during difficult times and they are my best friends today.
Brothers and sisters are silly together. They laugh at jokes no one else would understand. They build forts. They play house. They play Luke and Leia. They play board games. They sleep on each others bedroom floors and have sleepovers. They build rolly polly (potato bug) houses. They help each other out. They protect each other. They are best friends.
What is making you happy this week?
