I had so much fun making Oreo pops with my new Velata warmer that I decided I needed to make some patriotic Oreo pops for the Fourth of July.
Anything on a stick is cute, right? Add a few sprinkles and you’ve got yourself a win! These treats are incredibly easy and are perfect treats for a Fourth of July BBQ or picnic.
Fourth of July Patriotic Oreo Pops
Making Oreo pops is easy. It is so easy you can have your kids help with this project and not make a big mess.
Melt the chocolate in the microwave, then put the chocolate in your Velata warmer to keep it the right consistency.
Pour the sprinkles on a plate. Don’t those sprinkles just make you happy! I love sprinkles. Especially nonpareil sprinkles.
Remove one side of the Oreo cookie and place a sucker stick in the center of the cream filling. Put a small amount of melted chocolate in the cookie to help create a bond to the other cookie.
Place the other side Oreo cookie back on top of the cookie filling.
Let the Oreo cookie pops sit for several minutes to allow the chocolate to setup and create a bond.
Another method for creating Oreo pops is to put the sucker stick in the middle of the cookie and place the Oreo cookies in the freezer and let the freezer create the bond by freezing the filling.
Dip the Oreo pop into the melted chocolate. Make sure to cover both sides so each side is completely covered, then tap off the excess chocolate.
Place one side of the Oreo pop in the plate of sprinkles.
Place the sprinkled Oreo pop on wax paper and allow to setup for 20-30 minutes.
That’s it! My kids loved helping make this cute, simple treat.
You can make these several days in advance so they are ready for your party beforehand.
How do you celebrate the Fourth of July?

I LOVE this Velata idea! Such a great idea, and so very patriotic! Are you a Velata consultant? I love that the chocolate is peanut-free and gluten-free, this is so big! Thank you so much for sharing. :o)

I tried making these with my boys (10 & 6) & it DID make a big mess and left us all frustrated. Every cookie fell off the stick as we were trying to coat them. Do you use the Dubble Stuffed ones? I am thinking that MAY help. Any other suggestions for us so we can try again?!!
Camille says
Darn it! Yes, I use Double Stuffed Oreos. I think they are easier to work with. The biggest tip I have is to use the white chocolate on the inside as a glue, but I’ve also read that people will stick the cookies in the freezer with the sticks in them to bond the stick to the filling. Hope your next adventure turns out better!
Julie says
These are adorable! One question, if you make them beforehand, do you need to store them in the fridge or the freezer so the chocolate doesn’t melt?
Camille says
You don’t need to store it in the fridge or the freezer unless it is really hot in your house! Our A/C was out for a couple weeks this summer and we had chocolate treats melting because it was so hot in the house!
Amanda says
How much white chocolate and oreos did you use? I am definitely making these for Wednesday
Camille says
I used about 8 ounces of white chocolate, but it all depends on how many pops you are making. I would say to start with a smaller amount than you think you need, see how far it goes, then melt more chocolate if you need it. Thanks!

Oh my!!!! YUM!

I made these last night and they were super easy and super cute! White chocolate can be hard to work with though, make sure you have some one eith you to keep stiring the melted chocolate, it hardens fast!

I love to make these but I changed it up by using red white and blue sugar crystals because my niece chipped a tooth at a party from the candy you used here. I also used the white Oreo for those who don’t like the chocolate ones. Thank you they were a big it and were requested again.
