I am super excited for the fun holidays just around the corner. My youngest is also turning 2 in a little over a month. There is a lot of fun in the coming weeks and I’m making massive lists to help me stay organized. Hopefully I’ll have time to work on some fun holiday and birthday projects and have time to share them.
I love Sundays. It is a slow day and we spend time as a family. I don’t have any expectations of things that need to get done for the day and we take it easy. I like to sit down and think about the fun things we did during the week and the things that make me happy. Here are my picks for the nothing happier series this week.
Sesame Street
My sweet little girl loves Elmo and Abby. We like to cuddle up in a blanket (almost daily) and watch Elmo (she calls him Melmo). It is one of my favorite parts of the day.
We are throwing her a Sesame Street birthday party and she is going to be Abby Cadabby for Halloween. I am going to decorate her room soon and I’m thinking of doing Sesame Street. What do you think?
Friday Night Football Games
My daughter danced during halftime at the high school football game on Friday night for a drill team fundraiser. We had a fun time watching the game. My 2 year old saw another little girl and ran up to her and gave her a big hug. They just stood there and stared at each other for a few minutes. It was very cute.
I think it is so much fun to go to high school games. My son hasn’t been very interested in participating on any recreation sports teams yet, but was definitely interested in the game on Friday night. My daughter loves her dance classes and just recently started asking if she could play soccer. Maybe they will get more interested in sports as they get older…
Learning to Ride a Bike
My son gets the “figure it out yourself” award. We have asked him several times over the summer if he wanted to take the training wheels off his bike and he said no. We figured we’d let him learn when he was ready.
He recently came up to us and asked if we could take off his training wheels. We did and without any help, he hopped on his bike and took off! Maybe this happens with other kids, but with our daughter it took a lot more hand holding and hugging after the falls. He’s had a couple spills, but he jumped up and kept on riding. I asked him during the football game if he was interested in playing any sports and he asked if bike riding is a sport. I guess he likes it! Now we just need to get him a bigger bike.
What is making you happy this week? Are you excited for Halloween or are you waiting until October to get excited? I haven’t started decorating for Halloween yet, but may this week. Too early?
