Sometime in October, I fizzled out and took a hiatus from Makoodle. We celebrated many things during my hiatus including:
- My baby’s 2nd birthday
- Halloween
- My 30th birthday
- Thanksgiving
- My 10th Anniversary
- Christmas
- New Years
Those were the “main events”, but there was plenty of other things that kept us busy. We had a wonderful Christmas break and I feel all rested up and ready to crawl out of hibernation to kick-off a new year.
One of the things I missed while on my blogging hiatus was thinking about the things that make me happy. I watched an excellent documentary last night on Netflix called Happy. You should watch it sometime. It was very interesting. Here is the trailer:
What makes you happy? I have a goal to find, recognize, and remember the little things that make life happy. Read more about the nothing happier series.
Here is this week’s list of things that make me happy:
Christmas
Christmas is probably at the top of most “favorite holiday” lists and it is definitely on mine. I look forward to it all year. I wish I could have my house decorated for Christmas all year. I love listening to Christmas music. I enjoy baking Christmas treats. I love getting together with friends and family for Christmas parties. Christmas is awesome.
It is hard to believe it was only 2 weeks ago. I guess the good news is we are 2 weeks closer to Christmas in 2013! I should probably start planning. 🙂
Playing in the Snow
Snow is a magical, beautiful gift. My heart skips a beat or two every time i see it start to snow.
I think my favorite thing about snow is when the kids play in it. My 2-year-old played in the snow for the first time this year (too young and not enough snow last year) and she was in seventh heaven.
A New Year
We don’t have any special New Year’s eve or New Year’s day traditions at our house. In fact, this year it was quite uneventful (except for the trip to the ER to get stitches in my little girl’s forehead – she likes to giddy-up around the house and bumped into the corner of a table). We stuck around the house, had pizza from our favorite pizza place, watched the Odd Life of Timothy Green and Brave, and did a few fireworks.
What makes me happy about a new year is taking a chance to reflect on the previous year and thinking about goals for the new year. I am excited to see what this year brings. I am working more diligently on focusing on the things that matter most. I am determined to make 2013 the best 2013 ever – and I have a feeling it will be… 😉
What is making you happy this week?
