With summer knocking on our door I decided it was time to share my favorite grilled chicken recipe. This 7 up marinated chicken is delicious! We had it all the time at family reunions when I was growing up and we continue to enjoy it at family parties and get togethers.
7 Up Marinated Chicken Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup Soy Sauce
- 1 cup Italian Dressing
- 1 cup 7 Up
- Chicken Breasts*
You can also add 1/4 tsp. garlic powder and/or 1/2 tsp and of horseradish powder if you want to spice it up.
Instructions
Combine ingredients in a 1 gallon zip lock bag and get most of the air out. Place chicken breasts in marinade and seal zip lock bag. Make sure the chicken is covered by the marinade. Place chicken in the fridge to marinade for 4 hours or overnight.
Barbecue on the grill – keep an eye on it. The meat can go from done (most and juicy) to overdone (dry and chewy) pretty quick. Watch the heat on the grill as well – the oil in the marinade will cause some flare ups – so watch your eyebrows!
Add corn on the cob, potato salad, watermelon, etc … yum!
* You can also use turkey breasts as well. Our family loves grilling up turkey breasts using this marinade.
Mix all marinade ingredients in a large zip lock bag.
Place chicken breasts in marinade and allow to marinate for 4 hours or overnight.
Enjoy!

This sounds great! I have never tried it, but I love old family recipes. Do you find the 7 up keeps the chicken moist? Vicky from http://www.messforless.net
Camille says
Hi Vicky –
Yes! The 7-up gives it a sweet zing and also helps it to be moist.
Thanks!
