We are embracing the last few weeks of summer before we are back to school and back to the daily grind. We have had a lot of fun at the park and watching the summer Olympics this week.
I am still trying to decide if I like the summer of winter Olympics more. The winter Olympics came to town back in 2002, so I have a special place in my heart for the winter Olympics. On the other hand, I think the events of the summer Olympics are endlessly exciting. I loved watching the swimming, running, and gymnastic events.
My picks for the nothing happier series this week relate to our search for summer fun.
Pigtails
I love little pigtails. I haven’t cut my almost-2-year-old’s hair yet. I discovered about a week ago that it was long enough to do cute little pigtails. Pigtails may be the most adorable thing of my week.
Splash Pads
Have you ever taken your kids to a splash pad? I don’t know who invented these awesome parks, but whoever it was should have been born 20 years earlier. I wish I had the opportunity to play at a splash pad when I was a kid. If I ran out there in my swimming suit and started giggly and carrying on in the water today, I would probably look a little creepy.
We went to two different splash pads this week. The second one was their favorite because it has “the bubble.” The kids played for hours and couldn’t have been happier. Even though I wasn’t playing in the water with them, I got to do one of my favorite things – taking pictures of my happy kids.
Slides
As if we hadn’t had enough fun, after we played at the splash pad, we went over to the park for even more fun. My sweet little girl went up and down the slide over and over.
What is making you happy this week?
