It’s been a busy couple of weeks and, of course, a busy summer. I used to think that summer was the time of year you kicked-back and relaxed. Maybe it goes back to the going-to-school days when you had summer off. Now, summer is a jam-packed three months filled with long days, excited kids, birthday parties, vacations, BBQs, swimming, and friends.
Here are my picks for the nothing happier series.
Rainbows
We have had some great rain and thunderstorms the last couple of days. I love to wake up to the sound of rain pounding against the windows. I love the grand, ominous sound of thunder. Nothing is neater than watching a lightning storm. When a beautiful rainbow concludes a great storm, you know it’s a lucky day.
Yesterday my daughter was baptized (more on that later), and we were treated to a beautiful rainbow just as the sun was setting. It doesn’t get more symbolic than that. What a wonderful day.
Water Slides
This week I promised my kids we would go swimming. We went to a local water park and spent 3 hours playing in the pool, relaxing in the lazy river, and racing down water slides.
My son loved the water slide. We went up and down it over and over. We had a ball.
Good Decisions
My oldest daughter turned 8 recently and yesterday was her baptism. She is such a sweet, strong girl and definitely an example to me. She has a great heart and is very happy.
I am so happy for her decision to be baptized and know she will be blessed because of it. I asked her how she felt after she was baptized and she said, “Mom, you already know. It’s hard to explain.”
I love that girl. We are so lucky to have her in our lives.
What is making you happy this week? Have your kids already started school? My kids start on Tuesday!
